Carter's Stitches

This past Friday, I got a very scary call from the school.  The secretary that called was a little bit frantic, and wasn't really telling me what had happened.  She just kept saying that I needed to get to Sunrise as fast as I could.  Finally when she said the word stitches, I started to breath again.  I expected something so much worse!  Not that it wasn't bad, because it was.

Carter tripped over a chair in his class and hit his head on the corner of a desk.  He also hit his eye on the way down.  His teacher wasn't in the room, so I think that made him even more scared and upset.  There was an aid in the room that helped him though.  Mrs. Buttars felt so bad that she wasn't there.   Carter is really lucky to have such a great teacher.

When I got there, they had Carter all bandaged up.  I took a quick peek at the injury, and there was no doubt in my mind that he needed stitches.  So off we went!  We went to Dr. Mckenna's office, where he fixed him up with 7 stitches!  Carter was so brave!  He was so nervous, and asked TJ if he could maybe not get stitches and do something else to fix it.  The shot was the only thing that hurt him though.

It's so hard watching your baby be in pain.  I can't begin to imagine all those Mom's out there that have kids with really scary injuries, or illnesses.  What an eye opener little things like this are.

So here are a few pics of Carter's before injury:

And after he was all stitched up:

His cut was super deep.  You could see his skull, and it was really gross!  My first boy with stitches, and I'm sure it won't be my last!  :)

Holy smokes! That is a huge gash! Yes, unfortunately that is probably the first of many trips for stitches (and if your boys are anything like my brother, you can just keep the pediatrician on spee-dial for the monthly trips to sew up a new wound). What a brave boy, and super brave momma. :)

Our little Logan has a scar in the same spot! When I saw the before picture, it reminded me of logan's gash, which was also to the skull. He was our first stitches experience, so I know how you must have felt. PRetty ugle. At least they are boys, so having a scar on their face won't be that bad, huh? :)

Why am I crying? I miss this boy so much! I know it's probably all better now, but give him a kiss from me and tell him I love him.
